Who we are

Hi there, I’m Marcio Branco the owner of this website at https://marcio.duckdns.org.

Comments

When you leave a comment, I collect the data you provide in the comments form along with your IP address and browser user agent string to prevent spam. I may also provide a hash of your email address to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public, but please remember that with great power comes great responsibility – and the power to comment anonymously can be tempting!

Media

If you upload images, please make sure to avoid embedding location data (EXIF GPS) in them. Visitors can extract this data from images, so if you’re trying to hide from the paparazzi, double-check before uploading!

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site, you can opt-in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are for your convenience so that you don’t have to fill in your details again next time you leave a comment. These cookies will last for one year, just like that one shirt you always wear even though it’s a little too tight.

When you log in, I set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks, just like that song that gets stuck in your head.

If you (as a partner) edit or publish an article here, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day, unlike that one app on your phone you keep forgetting to delete.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, articles, etc. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. So, always remember to keep your online interactions as private as possible.

Who we share your data with

I don’t share your data with anyone, but if you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. I won’t use it to track you down, I promise. Well, maybe if you owe me money, but that’s a different story. 😀

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so that I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. And just like our love, I’ll never forget about you.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Remember, we’re here to serve you!

What rights you have over your data

Finally, remember that your data might travel more than you do! Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, and who knows where they’ll end up? Maybe they’ll be shipped to a secret server farm in the middle of nowhere, or perhaps they’ll be beamed up into outer space for alien analysis. One thing’s for sure, your data’s adventures might make for a great sci-fi novel. That’s probably why the platforms’ cloud uses Linux for their VMs – it

Where your data is sent

Data may travel more than you do! That’s probably why the platforms’ cloud uses Linux for their VMs – it’s out of this world!

Of course, let me express my sincerest concern about the privacy of your data. I can guarantee that everything you shared here will remain safe on my personal private server. Who needs proper security measures when you can trust a complete stranger on the internet, right? I’m absolutely certain that your secrets are as safe with me as Michael’s job in that episode of “The Office”.
